Hi, I'm the mum behind WayTally — a family of four, two boys, and more trips planned at 11pm than I'd like to admit.

Our kids feeding the monkeys at Iwatayama Monkey Park, Kyoto.
For years, every holiday was planned on a spreadsheet — manually entering accommodation, destinations and activities to tally up a real budget. It was time-consuming and entirely manual. I'd print it out for the actual trip, and any changes along the way meant scribbling updates on the paper copy, since I'd lost access to the spreadsheet itself once we were away.
WayTallyTravels was born out of my own frustration, and a vision to make trip planning for families easier and less time-consuming — so families can spend their time making memories, not stuck on a spreadsheet researching activities. I wanted it to be genuinely interactive too: telling you when school holidays fall, suggesting what to do if it rains, flagging whether an activity is actually age-appropriate for your kids, and warning you if you've packed too many activities into one day and are about to tire everyone out. All the things I used to work out manually, now built into the app.
WayTally is the tool I wished existed: pick your destinations, add the activities your family actually wants to do — and let the kids get involved and pick some themselves — and watch one real budget build itself in your own currency, then track what you actually spend against it as you go. I'm always open to new ideas and hearing about your own family travel experiences, so if you've got a suggestion, drop me a line at hello@waytallytravels.com.
Built after bedtime, out of my own frustration. Hopefully it saves you the spreadsheet.
Try it on your next trip
